CARLSBAD — The city of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation department presents its annual Eggstravaganza Spring Festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 23 at Poinsettia Community Park, 6600 Hidden Valley Road. In addition to crafts, bounce houses and games, the event will offer a sampling of the wide variety of summer camps offered by the city through free activities and hands-on demonstrations presented by quality camp instructors.
Fun zone wristbands will be on sale at the event for $5 each. Food and photos with the bunny will also be available for sale at the event. As a courtesy, a limited number of $5 activity cards will be available for purchase in advance starting April 18 through April 22 only at the following locations during regular business hours:
— Calavera Hills Community Center, 2997 Glasgow Drive
— Harding Community Center, 3096 Harding St.
— Stagecoach Community Center, 3420 Camino de los Coches
Advance activity card sales must be made in-person; no phone or online sales. All sales are final; absolutely no refunds. Activity cards purchased in advance that are lost or not brought to the event will not be replaced.
An Egg Scramble activity replaces the traditional egg hunt, and will be ongoing between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. simultaneously on two of the baseball fields. One field is dedicated to children 5 years and younger, and parents are allowed to assist children while collecting eggs. Another field is for children 6 years and older, and limits the number of children on the field to 20 at a time. Participants must purchase the $5 activity card in order to participate in the Egg Scramble.
“The Egg Scramble keeps the fun going by allowing kids to hunt for eggs as many times as they want, as opposed to a traditional egg hunt where there is only one chance for kids to collect eggs,” Rachael Shay, special events supervisor, said. “This activity ensures that everyone has a chance to participate in a safe, fair manner.”
