No injuries in early morning home fire

RANCHO SANTA FE — Residents were driven from their home March 21 by an early morning fire in the 14000 block of Rancho Santa Fe Lakes Drive.
Firefighters from the Rancho Santa Fe Fire District and San Diego Fire Department arrived at 6:23 a.m. to find a converted garage engulfed in flames and the fire spreading to the home.
The fire was under control by 6:49 a.m. and the occupants of the home were alerted to fire by the smoke alarms and able to safely exit the house. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
Damage to the approximately 10,000-square-foot home is estimated to be $1 million. The house is not habitable at this time and the Red Cross is assisting the residents. Five fire engines, one ladder truck, one medical unit, and one battalion chief responded to the incident.
