Fun planned for fourth Thursdays

CARLSBAD — The Carlsbad Village Association presents Thursdays on the Coast, “The Experience,” a free community affair offering shopping, dining and visual art and performing art experiences held every fourth Thursday of the month, kicking off March 25 and running through Oct. 27.
“Last year’s Thursdays on the Coast events were just a beginning of new and great happenings in the Village,” Mayor Matt Hall said. “I look forward to spending time downtown during the TOTC events this season. I always have a fantastic time. It is great to mingle with friends and meet new acquaintances while exploring the Village. I’m inviting all of our Carlsbad residents to visit the Village on the fourth Thursdays of the month, March to October.”
Look for the stores with the Thursdays on the Coast “Sponsor” logo in their windows for information and visit shopcarlsbadvillage.org. The sponsors are the local business owners interested in growing, developing and moving forward with new ideas and concepts.
Included in the fine dining and shopping available will be regional artists displaying their art in galleries both established and newly organized, live art demonstrations, and music. There will be great venues on State Street, Grand Avenue, Carlsbad Village Drive and surrounding village areas. Business hours will be later for participating sponsors to allow visitors to explore the downtown and Village.
“The event brings a new vitality to the Village and creates a fun and engaging evening destination for all,” said Cheryl Ehlers, event manager for the CVA. “The city needs an infusion of new ideas and event opportunities affording everyone the opportunity to thrive and grow. One such opportunity was to provide local artists a venue for permanent art and create an atmosphere for artists and business to unite, offering visitors to Carlsbad the opportunity to explore our village, shop, dine, meet business owners and artists and experience our wonderful city.
Self-guided walking maps will show the sponsor’s locations, existing and new art galleries throughout the Village of Carlsbad, and all participating venues offering specials and raffles. The event hub for programs and walking maps will be located at HomeLife Village Realtors, 500 State St.
