RANCHO SANTA FE — The Santa Fe Irrigation District turned out some award-winning numbers in 2010. The district’s stylish and sound bookkeeping was the recipient of two awards from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
The district received the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation award for its Fiscal Year 2011 Financial Budget Reporting and the Certificate of Achievement for its Fiscal Year 2010 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. This is the fourth year the district has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement, which is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the District and its management.
This is the first year the district has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, which represents an achievement by SFID, reflecting its commitment of the district and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the budget award, the district had to satisfy several nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.
These guidelines are designed to assess how well an agency’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. As an award recipient, the district has pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments.
The Fiscal Year 2010 CAFR and the Fiscal Year 2011 budgets are available to view and download on the district’s website at www.sfidwater.org.
The Santa Fe Irrigation District provides water and related services to residential, commercial and agricultural customers in the communities of Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach and Fairbanks Ranch.
