Fire at San Marcos strip mall

SAN MARCOS — According to Sandiego6.com, a two-alarm fire broke out at a San Marcos strip mall at 711 Center Drive, west of Nordahl Road at about 10 a.m. Dec. 8.
A fire broke out behind the Boot World store that faces Highway 78. Witnesses spotted flames and heavy black smoke.
Retail shops including Boot World, Geico, Verizon and H & R Block were evacuated.
Traffic was affected for hours as the ramp from Nordahl to westbound 78 was closed to give fire crews space to work.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by an electrical problem with a sign behind Boot World. No injuries were reported.
