Escondido ‘bomb factory’ home to be burned

ESCONDIDO — SanDiego6.com reports that authorities are saying the house where a man was operating a “virtual bomb factory” will be burned down.
Sheriff Bill Gore spoke to residents at a meeting the evening of Nov. 30 and said that 54-year-old George Jakubec’s home is so full of dangerous materials that the only way to make it safe is to destroy it with fire. The fire is planned for Dec. 8 or later, depending on the weather.
Protective barriers will be built and most of the surrounding neighborhood will be evacuated. Interstate 15 will also be shut down during the burn.
Jakubec is currently behind bars after a not guilty plea to illegally making and possessing explosives.
