Encinitas Holiday Parade winners announced

ENCINITAS — Tens of thousands turned out to watch nearly 90 entries participate in the 2010 Encinitas Holiday Parade on Dec. 4. Festivities kicked off with Santa at the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5 p.m. before the parade started down Coast Highway 101 at 5:30 p.m. This year’s parade theme was Illuminate the Season — with Gifts of Service, celebrating community spirit and service, and we saw many entries go all out, showing off the many great things they do in the community.

Judging categories this year included Best Use of Theme, Most Unusual, and Best Use of Flowers.

Best Use of Theme
1st: Cub Scout Pack 774 

2nd: Horizon Christian Fellowship 

3rd: Cub Scout Pack 775



Best Use of Lights

1st: Cub Scout Pack 775 

2nd: North County School of the Arts 

3rd: Encinitas Country Day School

Best Use of Flowers

1st: Cardiff Chamber of Commerce 

2nd: YMCA- Redhawk Nation 

3rd: DEMA



Best Children’s Group

1st: North County School of the Arts 

2nd: YMCA- Bear Princess Nation

3rd: YMCA- Falcon Nation 



Best Performance

1st: Horizon Christian Fellowship
2nd: North County School of the Arts 

3rd: YMCA- Eagle Nation



Best Marching Band

1st: San Dieguito Academy Marching Band 

2nd: La Costa Canyon High School Marching Band
3rd: Oak Crest and Diegueno Middle School Combined Marching Band



Most Unusual

1st: YMCA- Y Explorers 

2nd: YMCA- Bear Princess Nation
3rd: YMCA- Falcon Nation 



Best Overall
