Casa de Amparo looks to community for help

OCEANSIDE — Each holiday season, Casa de Amparo reaches out to the San Diego community to “Adopt a Casa Kid” by donating a gift for abused, neglected and at-risk children. Monetary donations are also appreciated to purchase additional needed items for the children and to assist with special meals, treats, transportation and other holiday expenses. In addition to individuals, businesses and organizations may also participate by sponsoring gift drives.
To “Adopt a Casa Kid,” call Casa de Amparo at (760) 754-5500 or e-mail cbarth@casadeamparo.org. You’ll receive the name, age, gender and a brief wish list for a Casa Kid. Gifts should be unwrapped. Gifts may be dropped off at Casa de Amparo’s holiday storefront, 110 Copperwood Way, Suite O, between 4 and 8 p.m. weekdays through Dec. 17. Monetary donations may also be made online at www.casadeamparo.org.
Casa de Amparo has been treating and preventing child abuse in San Diego County since its founding in 1978. The holiday gift program provides gifts to boys and girls in the organization’s Hayward Child Development Center (ages 18 months to 5 years), Children’s Shelter (ages 6 to 17) and New Directions Transitional Housing & Support Program for former foster youth (18 to 24).
