Rotary gifts goats to families in need

CARLSBAD — Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club is partnering with the Vakathanam Rotary Club of Southern India for an International Service Project to help families in need in their village. The project has the capacity to move these families from poverty to financial solvency by providing them with goats.
The goats will provide families with a source of nourishment and potential income. The formula is one goat per family, with the Indian family taking care of the goat, milking the goat, using the milk for their family, and selling what they do not use for profit. Goats will come with veterinarian care and life insurance. The first offspring will be returned to the Rotary Club to be distributed to other families in the village. The project is sustainable and will be able to serve more than 1,000 families in three to four years.
Rotarians and area residents can make this happen by underwriting the initial cost of the goat at $100 each. With the $100 tax-deductible donation, the Vakathanam Rotary Club in India will purchase the goat, identify the family, insure the goat and provide the goat veterinary care.
The goal is to help at least 100 families through this project. If you would like to be part of this project, make your $100 tax deductible donation check payable to: Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Foundation- Goat Project, Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club, PO Box 741,Carlsbad, CA 92018.
