Ivey Ranch gets sprinkler system

OCEANSIDE — The Ivey Ranch Park Association was delighted to welcome volunteers who turned out to install its new sprinkler system Oct. 23.
More than 30 employees from Hunter Industries and 13 Marines from the CNATT unit of Camp Pendleton came out and did the digging and installing for a new irrigation system on the new side of the ranch, and updated the systems in existence around the ranch. With many hands the project was completed in 4.5 hours
In addition, the LA84 Foundation showed its continuing support, granting Ivey Ranch $10,000 for Therapy Riding scholarships. The LA84 Foundation is a private non-profit foundation dedicated to the development of youth sport.
More support came from the Knights of Columbus from both San Luis Rey Mission and St. Mary’s Star of the Sea. The clubs had their annual Tootsie Roll Drive in honor of Ivey Ranch in October and proceeds go toward Ivey Ranch care programs.
With the Thanksgiving holiday, Therapy Program Riders and Therapy Volunteers will be on break from Nov. 22 through Nov. 27.
The Tuesday/Thursday morning volunteers and the Able-Bodied Riders program will be off Nov. 25. The Ranch’s annual Children’s Holiday Party is set for 3 p.m. Dec. 15 and volunteer orientation for the Ivey Ranch Park Association will be held Jan. 8, 2011.
