City accepting entries for recycled ornament contest

SAN MARCOS – The city of San Marcos is currently accepting entries for its annual recycled ornament contest for students in grades K through 5. There is no entry fee and each student is allowed to enter one ornament no larger than six inches in size. Creations must be made of recycled or reusable materials.
Glue, paint, and glitter may be used, but the main emphasis of the contest is to see what can be created with recycled materials. All entries must be submitted to Community Services, 3 Civic Center Drive by Dec 1. All eligible entries will be displayed at Santa’s Magical Village at the San Marcos Community Center from 3 to 8 p.m. Dec. 4 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5.
In addition to ribbons and certificates, the winners will receive prizes donated by local businesses. Contest rules and details about Santa’s Village can be found by going to www.san-marcos.net and clicking on “Special Events.”
