Don Diego Fund to host fundraising celebrity auction

DEL MAR — After awarding five San Diego County graduating high school seniors scholarships totaling $23,000, the Don Diego Fund is hosting an online auction at www.dondiegofund.org, to raise money for next year’s awards.
The event has been extended to July 19 to accommodate the many new celebrity-autographed items and other pieces up for bid. All items are available on a “Buy It Now!” basis. Items include famed Chef Guy Fieri’s autographed chef’s hat and a copy of his popular book, “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”
Also on the auction block are guitars signed by San Diego County Fair Grandstand performers such as Donna Summer, Mitchel Musso, Honor Society and Kenny Loggins. Dope Art Collaborative’s graffiti-styled paintings created during the Fair’s Best Dance Crew competition are up for bid, as is San Diego sports memorabilia, including a Shawne Merriman-signed football and a jersey and bat signed by Mr. Padre, Tony Gwynn.
Auction proceeds benefit The Don Diego Fund, which provides annual college scholarships to outstanding San Diego County high school seniors who have participated in the San Diego County Fair or other Del Mar Fairgrounds events. To date, the fund has distributed $536,000 in scholarships and grants, helping 126 students attain a college degree.
