COAST CITIES — Education First Educational Homestay Programs is looking for families to host an exchange student from Hong Kong or Germany this summer.
Every summer, groups of students from all over the world travel to different locations in Southern California for two to four weeks to improve their language skills, experience the culture and to have fun. This summer, EHP will bring 35 students from Germany to San Marcos from July 8 through Aug. 3. A second group of 35 students will be coming to Encinitas July 22 through Aug. 10.
To get the most out of their trip and to learn about the American culture, the students stay with volunteer host families. Being a host family is a great opportunity for the whole family to get cultural exchange, share the student’s daily discovery of the U.S. and develop a lifelong friendship without having to make a long-term commitment.
The students are between 12 and 18 years old, bring their own spending money and are fully insured. They have classes in the mornings, activities in the afternoons and sometimes on the weekends, which means they have a busy schedule already. What they need from the families is a bed, three meals per day and a caring environment to come home to. As a host family you get to pick the student/s you want to host to get the perfect match between student and family.
