Carlsbad district scores 12 student standouts

CARLSBAD — Twelve students from Carlsbad Unified School District elementary, middle and high schools were recognized as Student Standouts by the Greater San Dieguito Association of School Administrators of 2010.
Carlsbad Unified Standout Students are Max Allen, Hope Elementary; Justine Bailey, Buena Vista Elementary; Drake Benner, Calavera Hills Elementary; Aylin Callejas-Tolentino, Jefferson Elementary; Emma Christopherson, Poinsettia Elementary; Daniela Gracia, Magnolia Elementary; Cydney Rust, Aviara Oaks Elementary; Adokor Swaniker, Kelly Elementary; Eric Lopez-Reyes, Valley Middle; Miriam Panduro, Aviara Oaks Middle; Austin Stavenga, Calavera Hills Middle; and Briana Goehner, Carlsbad Seaside Academy.
The Student Standout celebration was held in May at Poinsettia Elementary School. Each recipient was honored with a statement of achievement from the school administrator, a certificate of recognition and a Barnes and Noble gift card.
Students are selected by administrators and teachers based on their passion and excellence in one of the following disciplines: arts, community service, humanities, courage, fellowship and science.
