VISTA — Eight artists have created their visions of “kites” that will debut during the Strawberry Festival on May 30. This is the third sculpture exhibit to be showcased downtown.
“The sculptures are a great feature for downtown Vista,” said Bill Fortmueller, assistant director of Recreation & Community Services. “They continue to draw interest from the community and attract recognition for Vista’s Public Arts program.”
This year’s winning artists include Kent Scott with “Steel Ray”; Robert Maya, “Sun of Kites”; Carol Rodriquez, “Flower Pinwheel”; Buddy Smith, “Spinning Glass”; Josh Bowman, “Cloud Formation”; Robert Rochin, “Wind Beams”; Charles Bronson, “The Green Machine”; and Melissa Ralston, “A May Day.”
The eight new sculptures will join three sculptures from previous exhibits that have been purchased and donated to the city for display.
