Theater camp keeps kids busy during break

ENCINITAS — Calling all budding young actors and singers. Registration is open now for the North County School of the Arts Best of Broadway Camp being held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from April 5 to April 9 at Dance North County, 535 Encinitas Blvd., Suite 100.
The theme of this year’s camp is the musical, “The Wiz.” Students will learn songs and scenes from the celebrated musical, as well polish their singing, acting, and dancing skills. Theatre classes, singing, dancing, and theatre games also are part of the week’s activities. Youngsters ages 7 to 14 are invited to attend. The camp costs $155 for the week.
“The arts are vital to the growth and development of children,” said co-founder Pamela Laurent. “It helps them not only express themselves imaginatively, but also learn about themselves and their world. Our Best of Broadway workshop will instill the love of the theater in them and keep the arts alive in North County.”
