Sub shop robbed

CARLSBAD — The Carlsbad Police Department responded to the robbery of the Subway restaurant at 2540-A El Camino Real at 9:45 p.m. on March 5. Ricardo Vargas, an employee of the restaurant, told police an unidentified African-American adult male between the age of 25 and 30 years old came into the restaurant and displayed a silver revolver handgun and then demanded the money from the cash register.
Vargas gave the money to the suspect who then departed the store westbound through the parking lot toward El Camino Real. The store was occupied by two customers at the time of the robbery, and neither they nor Vargas were injured.
Carlsbad Police, Oceanside Police and the San Diego Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter conducted a wide area search for the suspect but were unsuccessful in locating him. An undetermined amount of money was stolen during the robbery.
