CARLSBAD — The city of Carlsbad encourages residents to give their recyclables to Waste Management, the city’s designated collector of recyclables. Revenues from recyclables help keep residential trash rates as low as possible.
Waste Management is the only recycling service that is endorsed by the city. It is illegal for unauthorized organizations or individuals to scavenge through a resident’s recyclables without the resident’s permission. If a resident notices illegal scavenging of their recycling bins, they should call the police immediately (during the act, if possible) at (760) 931-2197.
Additional recycling information:
— Place recycling bins out on collection day only and returned to the side or rear of the residence after the weekly collection
— Recycling is picked up between 7 a.m. and sunset
— Place recycle bins within five feet of the curb or street
— Practice recycling. More than 50 percent of household trash is recyclable
— Residents may also redeem recyclables for cash at the Carlsbad buyback center, which accepts recyclables, including plastic, aluminum, glass, e-waste and batteries, at Waste Management, 5960 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, (760) 929-9400
