SAN MARCOS — A 40-year-old man arrested on sexual assault charges stemming from three separate law enforcement investigations may have more victims, police said Dec. 29.
Authorities arrested Kelley Edward Edley on Dec. 21 on a warrant based on investigations by the Carlsbad Police Department, and the San Marcos and Vista sheriff’s patrol stations in connection to incidents where Edley held a position of “trust” over the victims or was a co-worker.
According to police, the victims, who are all females ranging in age from 20 to 35, were either co-workers of Edley at health care facilities around the county or were his students during his time as a teacher at Kaplan College in Vista.
Edley is charged with two counts each of assault with the intent to commit rape, sexual battery and false imprisonment, according to court documents.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Edley is being held in custody on $350,000 bail. His next scheduled court appearance is Jan. 12.
Authorities believe there may be more victims and have urged the public to contact Detective Dave Brannan at the Vista Sheriff’s Station at (760) 940-4551, or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
