CARLSBAD — Carlsbad Unified School District is accepting written applications for membership on the Proposition P Oversight Committee. Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at the District Office, 6225 El Camino Real. Information and applications are at http://www.carlsbadusd.k12.ca.us/ppoc/pdfs/App_Ltr-Form09.pdf. Specific questions should be directed to Walter Freeman, assistant superintendent Business Services, at (760) 331-5000 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Currently, three of the seven PPOC slots are open. Applications will be screened and interviews conducted soon after the Dec. 4 application deadline. The Board of Trustees will appoint new members shortly thereafter.
The PPOC is required by law to oversee expenditures and advise the public as to whether the district is in compliance with California law regarding the $198 million bond measure overwhelmingly approved by voters in November 2006. The construction program features a massive renovation of Carlsbad High School, construction of an additional high school, modernization of several sites and district-wide technology upgrades. Much of the work is complete or in progress. Grading for the new high school is expected to begin in Fall 2010. Visit www.carlsbadusd.k12.ca.us for detailed construction information.
