VISTA — The city of Vista and the Vista Academy of Visual and Performing Arts campus will host a community meeting to receive public input on future recreational amenities that will benefit the community and the school. Community members are invited to attend the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9, at the VAVPA campus, 600 N. Santa Fe Ave.
The city will apply for a $5 million grant from the state to develop a recreational facility on the campus that will be available for school use and community use after school and on weekends.
“With limited budgets, the city and school district will collaborate to continue service to the community,” said Bill Fortmueller, assistant director of Public Services. “We have joint use parks now, and the partnership has been beneficial for all.”
Proposed ideas include a lighted athletic field with artificial turf, multi-purpose turf area, a playground, picnic area, gymnasium/theatre, community room, and outdoor sports courts.
