School holds special Veterans Day

SOLANA BEACH — Naval Flight Officer Jon LaBruzzo will be the featured speaker Nov. 10 at Santa Fe Christian School’s annual Veterans Day celebration.
LaBruzzo will share his experiences from supporting both Operations Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Iraqi Freedom where he completed four aircraft carrier deployments. Most recently, LaBruzzo served as a speech writer for Gen. David Petraeus and is currently in command of the Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility at NAS North Island. Students, faculty and staff will join together to honor all veterans, instill national pride in the students, and to support active duty military.
Families can bring nonperishable food items for young military families. The public is invited to partner with the Military Outreach Ministry and express their gratitude by donating nonperishable goods the day of the event.
The program will begin at 10 a.m. with members from the Solana Beach City Council and other local officials in attendance. Veterans are invited to attend a special breakfast at the school from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. Area veterans that are interested in attending can RSVP to Tina Burke at tburke@sfcs.net or call (858) 755-8900, ext. 1020.
