Opportunity for ‘grom’ filmmakers

OCEANSIDE — Young filmmakers take note.
A new component of the upcoming California Surf Festival Nov. 19 is the “Hot Grom Shorts Contest.” Filmmakers 19 years old and younger are invited to submit a five-minute surf film to compete during the festival. Special prizes will be awarded to the talented young filmmakers, as well as showings on the big screen for friends and family to enjoy.
To submit a film for consideration, visit www.withoutabox.com for more information or e-mail Keiko Beatie, festival programmer, at keikobeatie@gmail.com. Further details on the “Hot Grom Shorts Contest” are available at www.californiasurffestival.com.
The November festival, produced as a benefit by the California Surf Museum in Oceanside, will include exciting and groundbreaking new surf films with many of the filmmakers in attendance, film premieres and music concerts.
