VISTA — Twenty years ago, Vista leaders had the foresight to preserve history. A well-preserved adobe known as the “birthplace of Vista” became available on the real estate market. Leaders envisioned this would be an opportunity to create a living history museum to showcase for future generations.
On Sept. 27, the Friends of the Rancho Buena Vista will host a free fall festival open house that will include tours of the house, art gallery and gift shop to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the city’s purchase of the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe. Located at 640 Alta Vista Drive, the home will open at 12:30 p.m. with light refreshments and door prizes. The Friends of the Rancho are inviting local residents to share in the adobe’s history and will showcase how it has grown from an empty house to a quality museum since 1989.
