FINEST FLOWERS

Palomar Orchid Society members Bill Wong and Show Committee Chairwoman Renee Daly prepare the club’s orchids for the display March 13 at the San Diego County Orchid Society show at the Scottish Rite Center in San Diego. The Palomar Orchid Society, which meets in Carlsbad, created an exhibit centered around this year’s theme, “Around the World With Orchids.” The orchids belonging to club members were arranged according to their country of origin — Venezuela, Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, Japan and Africa. The Palomar group won the Balboa Trophy for the exhibit that best illustrated the show theme in the amateur category. In addition, members won awards for individual orchids that were included in the exhibit. The Palomar Orchid Society meets on the first Wednesday of the month at the Carlsbad Woman’s Club, 3320 Monroe St. Visit palomarorchid.org or call (760) 726-7763 for more information. Courtesy photo
