ENCINITAS — The Encinitas Sister City Program Committee is again hosting its biannual competition to select Encinitas students as participants in the Homestay Exchange Program with Encinitas’ Sister City of Amakusa City, Japan. The students will be selected through a competitive essay contest.
Current eighth-, ninth- and 10th-graders who reside within the city of Encinitas are eligible. The student exchange is scheduled for July 23 through July 30. A Sister City Program Committee member will accompany the students as a chaperone. The trip includes airfare and homestay for eight days in Amakusa.

The Homestay Exchange Program provides students with an opportunity to live with a Japanese family and in the process, share the experience of another culture and country, while making new friends.
