‘Anne of Green Gables’ on stage

RANCHO SANTA FE — The Village Church Community Theater will stage the timeless classic by L. M. Montgomery, “Anne of Green Gables” at 7:30 p.m. May 1 and May 2 and at 2 p.m. May 3 at the Village Church Theater, 6225 Paseo Delicias.
Casting has been completed and rehearsals are under way with Holly Ravazollo takes the role of Anne, Cole Wilson in the part of Gilbert, Isabella Ojeda as Diana, Lynn Lilyquist as Marilla and Kirk Duncan as her brother, Matthew. Additionally, the cast includes Chris Marshman, Jackie Culver, Alexa Sorenson, Julie Dubicz, Michele Bluhm and John Chalmers.
Based on the book, which was first published in 1908, the play is a contemporary telling of the story set on Prince Edward Island. Stern Marilla and her warm-hearted brother Matthew hoped to adopt a boy to work on their farm, but the orphan asylum sends young, freckled Anne by mistake and their lives will never be the same.
The Village Church Community Theater production is being presented free of charge but donations are accepted.
