City sponsors Adopt-A-Block program

VISTA — There are several neighborhood blocks calling for a little tender loving care in Vista. In an effort to provide that care and to beautify the community, the city of Vista Community Improvement Team is offering a rewarding opportunity for residents, businesses and organizations to take an active role in cleaning and greening those areas. The Adopt-a-Block program offers a hands-on project for those hoping to make visible improvements in local neighborhoods. In many instances, a clean community begins with one resident and one community deciding to make a difference.
The Adopt-a-Block program is a volunteer-based partnership between the city of Vista and its residents that promotes neighborhood pride by creating a clean community and a more beautiful city. The adopted groups play an ongoing role in the regular maintenance of a designated area in need of specific attention. Adopt-a-Block groups remove litter, weeds, and trash from their adopted area, as needed, for a period of six to 12 months. Clean-up supplies, including gloves, safety vests, pickers and trash bags, are provided by the city of Vista.
For those who want to become involved in the Adopt-a-Block program, contact Cynthia Flores at the city of Vista at (760) 726-1340, ext. 1483.
