Santa Fe Irrigation District names new board president

RANCHO SANTA FE — Michael T. Hogan has been elected to serve as the president of the board of directors of the Santa Fe Irrigation District. At the Dec.18 meeting, Hogan was unanimously elected by fellow board members to serve a two-year term as the board president.
As president of the board, he will chair the monthly meeting, establish board member committee assignments, and serve as chairman of the Executive Committee, which is responsible for setting the agenda for board meetings.
Hogan is a lifelong resident of Solana Beach and has worked in the water utility
industry for more than 30 years. He currently serves as the district’s representative to the San Diego County Water Authority where he is a member of the Administrative and Finance Committee and Engineering and Operations Committee. He has previously been elected and appointed to leadership positions at both the state and national level in water industry professional associations, including the California Water Environment Association and Water Environment Federation.
Following his election to the position of president of the board, Hogan
said he was, “honored to receive the support of his fellow board members” and that
his primary objectives would be sustainability of district infrastructure and water supply
resources.
Hogan succeeds Robert “Bud” M. Irvin as board president. Irvin served two terms as president, was a former SDCWA representative and serves as the chairman of the
District Finance Committee. Irvin nominated Hogan for the office of president and
noted that, “Mike’s leadership abilities and knowledge of the water business will serve the district and community well.” He expressed his appreciation for the support of the board and staff during his tenure as president, noting progress the district has made over the past several years and the many challenges currently facing the water industry.
The Santa Fe Irrigation District board of directors meets monthly at the district administration office in Rancho Santa Fe. Members of the public are invited to attend the meetings, which are held at 8:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month, or view meeting agendas, which are available on the district Web site at www.sfidwater.org.
