New dialysis center set to open

SAN MARCOS — Palomar Medical Group, or PMG, of Escondido has announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art dialysis facility in San Marcos in early 2009. The DaVita Dialysis Clinic of San Marcos is a 9,300- square-foot facility, with space divided into three major areas of practice: Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, and physicians’ office space. The doctors of PMG were actively involved in every aspect of the clinic’s design and construction, and believe it will be the premier dialysis unit in San Diego County.
The clinic will reportedly provide state of the art dialysis techniques, advanced technology, and will be adjoined to one of the largest home peritoneal dialysis programs in the United States, also operated by PMG.
“We believe our nationally recognized nephrologists and specialized staff will provide a quality of care not yet seen in San Diego County,” Mark Shapiro, president of PMG and medical director of the clinic, said. “In addition to regular hemodialysis, the clinic is planning home and overnight dialysis shifts for the convenience of patients. With new LCD TVs, comfortable treatment chairs, ample parking and location in close proximity to major freeways and the new Palomar Medical Center, there is already a waiting list of dialysis patients intending to relocate there for treatment.”
The new clinic is slated to open during the first quarter of 2009, and will be accepting its first patients in March 2009. It is located on Montiel Road, near Nordahl Road and the intersection of Highway 78 and the I-15. Anyone in the area with an interest in dialysis, or patients who want to switch to home peritoneal dialysis, can call (760) 743-4401.
Call (760) 745-1551, ext. 400, or e-mail PMG at staff@palmedinc.com to learn more.
