Summer trip to Costa Rica planned

NORTH COUNTY — Christine Kostick Meza, a biology teacher from El Camino High School in Oceanside, and Stevann Hamilton, AP biology, anatomy, physiology teacher from San Pasqual in Escondido, are co-leaders of a nine-day summer trip set for June 15 through June 23, to some of the most biodiverse areas in Costa Rica. The all-inclusive trip includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, three meals a day, entrance fees to various national park and tours, and a full-time bilingual Education First tour guide. Travelers are encouraged to sign up by Jan. 15. The group offers an autopay system of payment, which allows spreading of payments until 30 days before the trip. The Costa Rica coast-to-coast trip will include visits to beaches on both coasts, the active Arenal volcano with hot springs and a man-made lake, cloud and rain forests of Tortuguero, La Fortuna waterfall, various national parks, and an optional “zip-lining” canopy tour. The trip is open to both students and adults alike. The group would like everyone to have a chance to travel regardless of financial means and are asking for any type of donations (group or individual sponsorship) and have fundraising ideas available to students/adults to help pay for their trip.
The trip is an EF educational tour that Hamilton has lead the last two summers and will now add Kostick Meza as a co-leader. They hope to make this an annual summer scientifically oriented trip to some location of biological interest around the world. EF tours is also accredited, so students can earn high school credit by going on the tour and completing associated coursework.
