Rotary names “Teacher of the Year”

ENCINITAS — The Encinitas Rotary Club has been recognizing Teachers of the Year from community schools long enough to create an annual school-year tradition.
Jacqueline Curriden was recently chosen by her peers as the designated Teacher of the Year from Mission Estancia. Gregg Sorken, principal of Mission Estancia, made the introduction to the Encinitas Rotary Club by sharing that “Jackie’s fifth-grade class members clamor for her counsel. She is an outstanding teacher who is a compassionate and dedicated professional. She creates a classroom where all children are respected and valued.”
Her colleagues described her as a team player and “a prized superstar of the Encinitas Union School District.” In a supportive effort among parents, teachers and staff, Mission Estancia has established educational programs that have earned both National Blue Ribbon and California Distinguished School awards.
