Boys & Girls Club launches hockey program

VISTA — The Boys & Girls Club of Vista is now offering a beginning co-ed hockey program at its main site and the new Raintree Sports field in the Townsite area of Vista. The Boys & Girls Club of Vista recently received $6,000 from the Ducks Charities Fund, a fund of the McCormick Foundation.
The goals of the hockey program are to teach kids how to play and appreciate hockey, stay safe and fit, and learn the valuable character-building lessons of teamwork in hockey.
Executive Director Matt Koumaras is ecstatic about the support from Ducks Care. “I’m a Philadelphia Flyers fan but thankfully will now also root very boisterously for the Anaheim Ducks,” Koumaras said.
The club needs volunteer coaches to help support this fledgling program.
The cost of a membership to the Boys & Girls Club of Vista is $50 a year. To join the Club and to participate in the program, call (760) 724-6606 or visit www.bgcvista.org.
