VISTA — Rancho Buena Vista High School has partnered with E-World Recyclers for an electronics recycling fundraiser. This is a free event, open to the public as well as businesses, and will be held at E-World Recyclers’ Vista facility located at 2480 Ash Street, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participants who drop off obsolete electronic waste at E-World Recyclers on Nov. 1 will assist the high school in reaching their goal of collecting 10,000 pounds of e-waste while getting rid of old, outdated electronic junk.
Electronic devices such as computers, monitors, televisions and fax machines contain hazardous materials and are banned from California landfills. They also contain valuable metals, plastics and glass that can be salvaged for re-use. E-World Recyclers will donate a portion of the profits from this event to the school to assist in programs such as the purchase of a shade cover for the student Quad area. “We’re very excited about this,” ASB Director Kelly McKinney said. “It’s an opportunity to raise money, but it’s also an opportunity to inform. It’s so important to educate our students about the need to dispose of these items properly.”
The fundraiser is a collaborative effort between E-World Recyclers, Rancho Buena Vista High and a team of business students from the Cal State San Marcos Senior Experience Program.
