Rancho Days commemorates 80 years

Celebrating the 80th anniversary of historic Rancho Santa Fe, the “Rancho Days” festivities got off to a good start Sept. 20 thanks to a hearty breakfast. Sponsored by the Association and The Inn, the pancake breakfast had association directors and staff hard at work flipping pancakes and frying sausages to the delight of hungry patrons.
Later in the morning,
21 equestrians mounted their horses and hit the trails for the Poker Ride. Head of the Trails Committee and Association Vice President Tim Sullivan led the caravan from the Riding Club across to the Osuna Adobe, where they enjoyed lunch before heading back again. At five stops along the way, riders would draw cards and the best “poker hand” at the end of the ride was the winner. And the prize? “It’s either $10 or 10,000 shares of AIG,” Covenant Manager Pete Smith teased.
Many other activities are scheduled in the days ahead, including:
— Sept. 24: The Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild is sponsoring an open house and refreshments from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild and the Union Bank of California.
— Sept. 25: The Rancho Santa Fe Rotary is sponsoring its annual “Fall Festival Family BBQ.” It’s from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in the park across from The Inn.
— Sept. 26: The Rancho Santa Fe Senior Center is sponsoring “History in the Garden” with Diane Welch from 2 to 4 p.m.
— Also Sept. 26 is the Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society’s annual “Fandango Fiesta and Chili Cook-off.” The cook-off takes place from 5 to 7 p.m.
— Sept. 27: The Rancho Santa Fe Tennis Club sponsors its “Free Family Tennis Clinic and Barbeque” from 1 to 4 p.m.
— Also on Sept. 27 there’s an Open House at the Osuna Adobe from 2 to 4 p.m., sponsored by the Association.
—Later on Sept. 27, from 6 to 10:30 p.m., the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club and the Association are sponsoring the “Rancho Santa Fe Hoe Down Dance.” Also, it’s Kids Night Out from 5:45 to 9:30 p.m. at the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center.
