2 shot during robbery

SAN MARCOS — Two people were shot multiple times during a “home-invasion style robbery” at an industrial business when an undetermined amount of marijuana was stolen, and three suspects remain at large.

As of Dec. 20, one of the victims was still in the hospital recovering from injuries nearly a week after the shooting, according to the sheriff’s department.

At about 8 p.m. Dec. 14, San Marcos Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the 175 block of Bosstick Boulevard, which is just west of the South Santa Fe Avenue and South Rancho Santa Fe Road intersection.

The victims were transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, with nonlife-threatening injuries according to Sgt. Daniel Deese of the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station.

The suspects are described as three black males who were possibly driving a black Honda, he said.

“It wasn’t random,” he said. “It isn’t going to be a series.”

A neighborhood of tract homes overlook the Bosstick Boulevard business area where warehouse-style units offer services such as metal polishing, and in, this case, woodworking.

According to Deese, when authorities investigated the shooting, they stumbled upon a marijuana growing operation inside the woodworking business.

He said they seized 20 marijuana plants, growing equipment and processed marijuana.
