Task force conducts compliance check on sex offenders in North County
ENCINITAS — The Encinitas Sheriff’s Station in conjunction with the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force conducted 36 compliance audits on sex offenders who live in Encinitas, Solana Beach, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe.
Council sets fees, food trucks can return
DEL MAR — Having already established the when, where and how food trucks can operate in Del Mar, council members set the how much at the April 6 meeting, approving a $350 charge for first-time applicants and a $175 annual renewal fee.
Fair board takes no action on expanding JPA; announces settlement to lawsuit
DEL MAR — The 22nd District Agricultural Association board of directors didn’t say yes, but they didn’t say no either to a request from San Diego County Board Supervisor Dave Roberts to expand a proposed joint powers authority with the county to include representatives from Del Mar, Solana Beach and the city of San Diego.

Changes hope to spur business
CARLSBAD — The Carlsbad Planning Commission approved changes to the Village Master Plan and Design Manual at its May 15 meeting in the hopes of stimulating development in the city’s downtown area.
Oceanside works to fill funding gaps for youth services programs
OCEANSIDE — Following some heartfelt community requests, City Council unanimously voted to spend $153,000 in one-time funds and $120,500 per year in annual funds to fill in gaps in youth and family services at its May 15 meeting.
Surfer comes to town with new book
ENCINITAS — Rusty Miller, surfing legend who grew up in Encinitas and was the United States Surfing Champion in 1965, will be talking about and signing books from 3 to 5 p.m. May 18 at Hansen’s Surf, 1105 S. Coast Highway 101. “Turning Point” is Miller’s first book.
