Mr. Kern vigorouly defends the need for aides for each council member. Fair enough. I'm convinced they contribute enough to the city to warrant their employment. But how is it that he then spends so much time and energy in attempts to dismiss the good work and lay off others who provide important services to our city. I believe it says something about Mr. Kern's values that he'll go to bat for aides that carry his valise while promoting outsourcing of emergency care. Those who handle his phone calls and paperwork are invaluable. We who pay the taxes to support them - and him! - can make do with outsourced, more distant, and less qualified emergency medical services.

Councilman Feller I too was disappointed that only 84 people showed up at the Community Meetings. The general feeling it that the Trio will not listen to us anyhow. By the way, how many Oceanside residents did you talk with when you were writing the City Charter in secret? I also noticed that there was not many folks voting for you at the last election.

The Council spent $10,000 on this consulting report, yet when the public doesn't agree with their agenda, the Council Majority claims the residents who participated "don't represent the residents of Oceanside." So the 84 voices they DID hear from don't count, just like the 15,484 voters who signed a referendum last year to stop vacancy decontrol. They're already ignoring the 54.16% of voters who elected Jim Wood mayor in November. So if 84 voters aren't enough and neither are 15,484,or 54% of the 74% who came to the polls, how many voters WILL it take before Kern, Feller & Felien LISTEN.
