CARMEL VALLEY — The Del Mar Highlands Town Center community holiday celebration kicked off with a visit from Santa Dec. 5 and will host a Hanukkah menorah lighting at 6 p.m. Dec. 9. The center is at the corner of Del Mar Heights Road and El Camino Real.Following Santa’s arrival, Elizabeth Schreiber of Donahue Schriber, owner and operator of the Town Center, presented the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation with a $1,000 donation on behalf of the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. The funds will be used for the Community Education Program, is a joint venture with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department to educate elementary school children and seniors on fire safety and prevention, home fire escape plans and more.
On Dec. 9 the Del Mar Highlands Town Center will welcome Carmel Valley’s Congregation Beth Am on the upper level plaza for the 6 p.m. menorah lighting. The Hanukkah celebration will include a presentation by Rabbi David Kornberg, plus a performance by the temple choir and refreshments.
Schreiber, with the help of San Diego City Councilmember Sherri Lightner, also presented $1,000 donations to representatives from 15 local schools on behalf of the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. The donations are made possible through the center’s annual Save the Arts Program.
In 2009, the Center Del Mar Highlands Town Center celebrated 20 years in Carmel Valley with renovations that added seven new restaurants and a luxury boutique movie theater.
