Artillary exercise may be noisy on Pendleton

CAMP PENDLETON — Camp Pendleton units will be conducting a battalion-size live fire artillery exercise in the Whiskey and Zulu impact areas, Thursday through Wednesday.The first iteration of the exercise will be conducted from 6 a.m. to midnight, Dec. 6 through Dec. 8. Additional training will resume with the firing of High Mobility Artillery Rockets (HIMARS) from 6 a.m. to midnight, Dec. 10 through Dec. 12.
Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
