SOLANA BEACH — On May 9, the Solana Beach City Council voted to ban single-use carryout plastic bags at point-of-sale within Solana Beach. As of Nov. 9, retail establishments, vendors and non-profit vendors will be required to comply, as well.On Aug. 9, grocery stores, food vendors, pharmacies, and city facilities were required to meet the new law.
Paper bags are not restricted at this time. However, commercial/retail businesses must charge 10 cents per paper bag if they choose to provide them, in an effort to encourage the use of reusable bags.
