Let's not forget that Glenn Sabine and Gus Vina both work for the City Council. Their job is to serve our Council--not our citizens.

Is it any wonder that these 2 both gave a thumbs up to the behavior by taking the position that since signs conform to rules now, that there should be no punishment?

Their approval only makes this situation look worse.

Vote Shaffer and Kranz!

First of all, councilman Muir, we didn't "come up" with anything. You were caught. And, there is a huge difference between signs being placed early by misinformed or over-zealous supporters, and signs being put up by the candidates themselves, intentionally violating city codes, and in the process, intimidating the citizen who witnessed the wrong-doing, and following that up with a character-assassination campaign against that citizen.

As for Mayor Stocks argument that all is well now; what if the signs had been placed a week earlier? They still would have come into compliance in the same way through the passage of time. Does that make this excusable?

Finally, this is not about the signs per se. It is about character and accountability. This wink-and-nod attitude that a little larceny here and there is no big thing is totally unacceptable. It erodes the foundation of trust that people need to have in their representatives, and creates cynics of us all. We deserve better.
