Sheriff Department conducts DUI checkpoint in Encinitas

ENCINITAS – Sheriff’s deputies from the Encinitas Patrol Station Traffic Unit released a report stemming from the driver’s license/DUI checkpoint on the 1800 block of S. Coast Highway 101 held from 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 through 1:30 a.m. Sept. 1. 

A total of 5 DUI arrests were made; 12 DUI evaluations were performed out of a total of 833 cars going through the checkpoint. There were 396 cars sent into the checkpoint and 36 cars sent to a secondary evaluation.

The checkpoint also resulted in 19 citations for various license violations and 10 vehicles were towed.
