I can’t understand why the city would even consider allowing alcohol at the Fletch Cove Community Center. I am not against expanding the use toward more civic-minded events and even private parties if alcohol is not allowed. This facility, located adjacent to a family neighborhood next to a tot park and playground could spell disaster is alcohol is allowed. I should add the tot park and playground didn't exist in the 1990 when they had wild parties at the FCCC. Do we really need the city of Solana Beach to allow a situation to occur that potentially could be devastating to a family and the community? Also, why are we spending tax dollars to determine if we should have private parties? As pointed out by councilman Nichols, this facility was originally approved for the renovation as a community center not for private parties.
