International Film Festival in Oceanside
OCEANSIDE — The Oceanside International Film Festival 2012 opens at 5 p.m. Aug. 16, with a red carpet arrival and reception at Star Theatre, 402 N. Coast Highway 101. The day will continue with a Polynesian performance onstage, and screening of guest feature film “Callous,” winner of a previous OIFF.The festival continues through Aug. 19, featuring:
— “The Lucky One” – a film by a Southern California filmmaker Bala Balakrishnan.
— “The Forest Path” – a children-oriented fairy-tale fantasy film directed and produced by John and Shannon Jennissen.
— “Home Animations By a Student” – a compilation of home-made animations from a middle school student filmmaker from Oceanside, who goes under his “artist name” of Indy PD.
— “Kevin’s Critters: Hold on to Your Horses, ” hosted by 9-year-old Kevin Andersen, a middle school student from Bonsall.
— “Letting Go” – a silent film by Cameron MacKenzie, a 14-year-old from North Dakota.
— “Tiny Pupil” – a film directed by Komaki Teng, a student at Waseda University, Japan,
“The Lucky One” and “The Forest Path” will be shown along with other films noon to 9 p.m. Aug. 17 at the theater of Grace Chapel of The Coast, 102 N. Freeman St.
“Home Animations By A Student,” “Kevin’s Critters: Hold on to Your Horses,” “Letting Go,” and “Tiny Pupil” will be shown along with other Student Category official selections from 10 am to 3 p.m. Aug. 19 at MediaTech Institute, 302 Oceanside Blvd.
