Foundation selects North County governor

CARLSBAD — The San Diego Foundation has named North County resident James Farley to its board of governors. The board is composed of 30 volunteers involved in many community and charitable activities.Farley, president and chief executive officer of Leichtag Foundation, has held his position of president and chief executive officer since 2007. Prior to that appointment, Farley served as General Counsel of the Leichtag Foundation.

A longtime North County resident, Farley has served as president of the board of Seacrest Village Retirement Communities and the San Diego Botanic Garden Foundation. He is a founding member of the board of the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation and a former member of the Technical and Professional Advisory Committee for the First 5 San Diego Commission, dedicated to preparing all children in San Diego County to be ready to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.

Farley currently serves on the board of the Jewish Funders Network, an international association of individual philanthropists and foundations. He also serves on the Community Advisory Board of Scripps Hospital Encinitas. He is a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles and earned a law degree from California Western School of Law and a master’s in Taxation from New York University.
