Once again the Council Majority is trying to rush through further changes that will impact their constituency and even the way we vote. If I understand correctly, “districting” would mean that a voter could not vote for the candidate of their choice unless that candidate happens to live in their neighborhood. Wouldn’t that prevent large groups of people from supporting the best person for the job? What if no one from your neighborhood is running? They also want to eliminate elections for City Clerk and City Treasurer, instead appointing persons of their choosing! As well as, eliminating voting at the polls in special elections! This is a blatant grab for more power for the Council Majority and less power for Oceanside voters.
