What a brilliant guy Audet is to make such a seamless transition from running Barth’s campaign to writer for the Coast News. He actually convinced a few people on this blog that he and Teresa are for open government! He almost convinced people them that Teresa can get along with others and actually accomplish something. Unfortunately anyone who checks the facts knows that the partisan Audet never gets it right with the bully pulpit that the Coast News had granted him. For example, he always brings up the fact that Phil Cotton received the 13th check, but NEVER mentions that Maggie, Teresa, Jerome, and Jim also took it. And Teresa a fiscal conservative? How can that be? She and her supporters pushed for a 1.2 million dollar repeat EIR plan on the Hall Park because they saw an opening when minor adjustments were made to the park plan. What is ironic is that the adjustments obviously reduced the park’s impact on the environment. Maggie knew that and that is probably why she she voted with the other 3 (opposite of Teresa). A fiscal conservative does not favor spending the city’s money on frivolous EIRs and witch hunts.
Nice try Audet and Coast News, but most people would see the National Enquirer as a more worthwhile read.

so, how do we get a system in place to hold our city council members accountable for their unethical behavior? How have they been getting away with doing whatever they want with no regard for the residents of encinitas? there has to be something in place to keep them in check.

Council Member Barth is the ONLY one of the council members I do trust. Are you kidding me? Now that’s comedy to say she is untrustworthy. You have clearly not been to, or watched a meeting!
If this was a school yard the other 4 would have been sent to the office and their parents called to pick them up – FOR BULLYING!

Hit the nail on the head! Gaspar proved last week that she will do anything she is asked to do. The super majority are absolutely arrogant and rude to the public (unless of course you are looking for a favor and you’re a friend)
Mr. Audet got it SOOO right. I’m sure Jerome Stocks is typing away his rude and usually ridiculous response.

Kristin Gaspar doesn’t know how to play chess. She would trip and fall in her spike heels in a 100-yard dash. She is so anorectically thin that she couldn’t beat anyone in arm wrestling. The winner by a huge margin is Andrew Audet.

Andrew, your writing about this Encinitas City Council majority of Stocks, Bond, Gaspar is important. Keep up the great work: what you’re doing is important! These elected officials serve their largest constituency with supreme arrogance. So much fracturing of the community. The most divisive city council that has ever sat. It is astounding, really. It is disturbing, truly.
The unwise, and ungracious quote of George Bush, upon winning his second term by the slimmest of margins, comes to mind — that he had earned his political capital, and now he intended to spend it. There is little wisdom, or kindness in this group.
Another quote comes to mind about this Encinitas City Council majority, this one from either H. L. Mencken or Groucho Marx, I forget: "Time wounds all heels."
Encinitas is a changing city. The next few years will reflect that, I am confident.
