Correction: Excuse me, although Bill and Sarah had written an excellent commentary, re saving Pacific View, previously, it was Dody Crawford, of DEMA’s, piece, here, to which I’m responding. DEMA clearly refutes Baird’s assertion that funds from rezoning and redeveloping Pacific View could go toward teachers’ salaries.

Dody: Thank you for refuting much of what Tim Baird wrote in his commentary. You were very polite. It’s my opinion that he has been dishonest since he came to Encinitas. He tried to do the same thing when he was with the Ojai Unified School District when he tried to sell the historic Chaparral school site for commercial development instead of for community use as a skate park. Supt. Baird is a classic carpetbagger.
And district parents should start asking exactly ‘where’ the EUSD Prop P money has gone? Baird has spent so much so fast that the ‘solar’ plans have been abandoned, and the school board that has looked toward having a farm along Quail Garden’s Drive to bring income is NOW planning on almost completely financially underwriting this supposedly organic farm project; that’s right, instead of bring in income to the district, Baird’s plan underwrites this pursuit to pay out hundreds of thousands of dollars for very expensive homegrown greenbeans. Oh, that Citizen Oversight Committee? Ask’em, they have either jumped overboard or are refusing to endorse Baird’s reportedly reckless expenditures.
