San Diego County law enforcement agencies target drunk drivers

DEL MAR – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and police from San Diego County agencies worked together to target drunk drivers during Opening Day at the Del Mar Racetrack July 20. In total, 15 motorists were cited and charged with DUIs, according to authorities.
A total of 349 motorists were stopped near the racetrack between 3 p.m. and midnight.
Two people were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs, and four people were arrested for driving on a suspended license, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Jose Sanchez.
Sanchez said that 35 citations were written for a variety of traffic violations, and 14 vehicles were impounded during the crackdown.
An estimated 40,000 people attended Opening Day at the Del Mar Racetrack.
